I remember one elder who whenever he was speaking of an Egyptian Pharaoh would pronounce Pharaoh as PharEoh. I've never heard anyone else pronounce it like that. And he was one of the anointed. So much for being anointed.

Who knows? Maybe Lett is a test run. On the other hand Copeland has a wild-eyed creepy insane way about him. I also get that creepy vibe from Stephen Lett. If Lett ever decides to leave Watchtower he could slink right over into the lucrative world of televangelism. His schtick could be: Former Jehovah's Witness GB leader who was touched by Jesus and now wants to touch you. Maybe him and Copeland could team up and do a tag team on the wallets of the gullible.

For any that still believe in God and Jesus, what is your reasoning on this matter?
by BourneIdentity inin the old testament, god was always full of anger and jealousy resulting in the murder of millions of people.
we’re told jesus perfectly reflects his fathers qualities.
why in the new testament does jesus show no hint of anger and jealousy and wanting to kill people?

When I first left the JWs around 1980 there was no internet. Most of the help and information you got came from Christian sources so I think a lot of people that left the Jehovah's Witnesses back then went that way including myself even though I couldn't buy into many of the fundie beliefs. I couldn't believe in things like hell, the anti gay crap, the end times nonsense (which I had had enough of as a JW) to name a few. Nowadays with the internet it is much easier to get help and information when you are leaving the JWs without any religious ideas attached to it. When you go online to investigate the Watchtower now you find that many of the sources you come across are also critical of the Bible and religion in general and make valid points.

Venus and Serena William's mother in a Mother's Day commercial
by Expanded-Mind ini think this is such a cute commercial!
(link below) however, if venus and serena's mother is a loyal witness, i am surprised that she would consent to do a mother's day commercial.
we all know what they teach about celebrating this and so many other holidays.

If you are rich and famous or the parent of someone who is rich and famous I think they give you a "get out of disfellowshipping free" card. The average JW would be getting a call to meet with the elders if ever did anything like that.

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood - a Personal Memoir
by Terry inonce upon a time in hollywood (a brief memoir).
for about two years, 1980-82, i worked for creative galleries in culver city, california which was very close to mgm studios.. creative galleries offered original art at wholesale, retail -- and (thanks to me) rented art to movie studios.. i had become friendly with two set decorators, joe kroesser and his partner, mel johnson.
one afternoon their car broke down in front of the antique guild nearby and they wandered in looking for a telephone.i chatted with them for over an hour and we quickly became symbiotically chummy.they needed artwork and i needed to sell artwork.. joe and mel suddenly dreamed up a little business scheme.apparently i was being granted an inside glimpse of how hollywood really works.the two guys worked for mgm on the tv show chips, joe and mel set up their "side" business as a kind of 'broker.".

Terry, I think the LA one was the old Helm's bakery building. The one here was large building right off the 55 frwy in Santa Ana. I think they closed some time in the 90's when oak furniture went out of vogue (except for me I still like it).
I remember when her character Elvira was just getting popular and she was selling her VW Bug in the Auto Trader. She may have been living in Newport Beach at the time because that was where the car was locate. The only thing I remember her in without her Elvira drag on was in Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure where she played a biker chick.

Did she look like a JW? Maybe she was one of those not all there people who hang around gas stations hitting people up for money. She could have found the tract and was working it into her scam. -

Great memory Terry. I was a big fan of Cassandra Peterson back then and still am. Eric Estrada not so much. Your mention of Antique Guild brought back memories. I bought a lot my furniture and other things at the Orange County location back then.
